eat, drink and be merry

i was talking to el on aim till about 11 last night when i suddenly felt the urge to cook something up (must've been all that talk about him bringing the wine if i make dinner this weekend :-p). tim had called earlier and said that he'd be coming back to the apartment anyway since most of his homework is here. so i thought it'd be best to start putting the cooking skills (or lack thereof) to good use. it's on my 24 goals for my 24th year anyway.

went through the pantry to see what i can cook up and found cans of contadina. thought i'd try making tita rose's chicken cacciatore.

it was my first attempt at making anything other than breakfast so i was a little hesitant. but hey, we all have to start somewhere right?

tim got home just in time too. he had initially noted on our recently-bought whiteboard that this was my first attempt at making dinner, then drew a poison skull sign right next to "monday". haha..

for a first attempt though, it turned out pretty good. would've preferred to have some wine with it but we were cheap. we just downed the bottle of verdi leftover from the wedding. haha.. it was good nonetheless. trust me, i'd be the first to say it was a flop if it sucked. but i'm pretty proud of myself. it's not really a complicated recipe, and in principle, it's a relatively easy dish to make. but i was happy with how it turned out that i didn't mind cleaning up the mess i made in the kitchen (i gotta work on minimizing cookware use so i don't end up washing a lot more than needed).

after dinner, tim put a thought bubble on the board for the skull that goes, "YUM!" i think it'll take a while before he trusts my cooking. :-p but at least, i'm learning!
