drink up

people say i have too much going on online. i guess that's how much of a geek i am. i have a friendster profile (although i pretty much abandoned that one; barely update it anymore), a myspace profile, 2 (count 'em: TWO) multiply accounts, 2 (again: TWO) livejournal accounts, a facebook profile, and this blogspot page. it's just that my friends are all over the net, and i like to keep updated. especially when it comes to music (music is my life, or at least, i try to make it mine XD).

i've been fortunate enough to have friends in the music industry, as well as friends who have great taste in music. for my birthday, my cousin gave me a gift card to itunes and i've been racking my brain, thinking of mind-blowing ear candy i can download off the site. a couple of weeks ago, mr. dj man recommended i get beck's sea change album.

it's only now that i actually got to sit down and listen to it from the first song to the last. and it was such a good call. i swear i've been bawling for the past couple of hours (i have it on loop). it's just soooo sad, it's beautiful. but let's make one thing clear: I AM NOT EMO. haha.. i just like listening to heartbreaking music (i.e. elliott smith, jeff buckley, bon iver, early death cab, etc.). a lil bit of sorrow makes one feel so alive. in fact, i think it was rumi who said it best:

i saw grief
drinking a cup of sorrow
and called out,
"it tastes sweet, does it not?"
"you've caught me," grief answered,
"and you've ruined my business.
how can i sell sorrow,
when you know it's a blessing?"

anyway, just sharing the sorrow (hehe). i think we all need a cup once in a while.:-p
