first week at work

it's been a crazy few days so far.

i finally started working on monday. right now, i'm at the honeymoon stage of the job. i'm still liking it, even though it gets boring because of the routine. i'm sure in a couple of weeks, i'll be complaining about coming to work. but so far, it's been going well.

one thing i love about working at the UN this time around is that now there's a lot more people my age working there. three out of five people in my team (bading, hibo and me) are all in the mid-20s. so i don't have to eat lunch by myself anymore (yes, i ate lunch alone EVERY SINGLE DAY the last time i was working for the UN)..

today was really nice. we had decided to have lunch at this filipino restaurant called bayan on 45th and 3rd. unlike the sad scenario that was me at the cafeteria alone three years ago, i had the chance to walk outside where it was warm and nice, and have lunch with people i actually know and get along with. we met up with jonathan (whom i haven't seen since the last time i was here) and his co-worker maria. it was good catching up over lunch.

walking back to the office, i realize how much i've changed. i used to close all the doors on opportunities that i think don't fit my criteria of "the perfect job". and i have to say, this post i have right now, though it pays really well, definitely is not the job i'd like to stick to for the rest of my working years. i just have to stick it out, save up, and hopefully get into the career i really love (which i know i will not make money off of) in five years. okay, maybe ten. the point is, i look at things differently now. i'm not the same ideal artsy-fartsy wannabe. living here, at this point in my life, has made me more practical. which i don't really mind.

i know i can't afford to be artsy.** but it's okay. it makes the weekends seem so much more special. haha..

**but i'll still be your artsy. hehe.. cheeeeeeese.
