confessions of a morning person

it's 7:45 in the morning on a saturday. everybody's still asleep. and i know i should really use this time to relax and take advantage of the weeekends since i need to be up extra early for work during the week. but i just can't seem to fall back asleep once i'm up. so i'm on el's laptop waiting for him to get up. haha..

yesterday was the worst day to be going to work. it was raining hard, people were extra pushy, i had a big overnight bag, and traffic was crazy. but there's one thing about being okay with waking up early that it works to my advantage. i'm very observant in the morning.

that being said, ny is not as cold and feisty as most movies make it out to be. sure, most people would be moving along, rushing to work, minding their own business. but if you stop, step back, and just watch people move about, you find that there's still that warming tingle that comes from seeing older couples kiss each other goodbye when they get off the bus to part ways, or daddies giving their kids that embarrassing kiss when they drop them off at school in the morning, or people trying to make random conversation with strangers on the subway, maybe even openly flirting.

my favorite scene so far: a couple probably in their late 70s getting off the crosstown bus, holding hands the whole way, then kissing to part ways at port authority. the man watched as the lady walked away towards her gate. you had to be there, it was cute and heart-warming.

then again, the cynic would probably say they were having an affair. hahaha.. XD
